How Much Does Web Design Cost for Orthodontists?

web design cost for orthodontists

At Nexunom, website design and development is one of the primary services we provide to our orthodontic clients. A question that almost always comes up during my discovery call with the (prospective) ortho clients is how much the website design project is going to cost them. The short answer is that the cost can vary anywhere from $3,500 to over $10,000. The actual cost can depend on a few different factors, which I will go over them on this post.

The web design cost is more of a spectrum, with the $3,500 being a templated website with fewer pages and interactive features, and at the other end of the spectrum, the $10,000 web design cost being a custom-designed site with more pages and features.

New website Vs. redesign

Are you a new orthodontist who needs a new website from the ground up, or do you have an existing website that you want to redesign? For a new website, we would need to write web copy for all the different pages we want to add, which will increase the cost of the website design project. For an existing site, we can get the web copy and some of the imageries from the old site, which can facilitate the redesign process and reduce costs.

If you have an existing site, how big is your current site?

How many pages does it currently have? In most cases, we need to transfer all these pages to the new site, which means we basically need to create a page on the new site for every existing page you have on the old site while keeping the URL structure intact. If we need to change the URL of the page, a proper 301 redirect needs to be set to avoid any complications with Google and other search engines after launching the new site.

Do you own your current site and its content?

In the case you don’t own your current site or its content, we need to write new web copy, create new photos, etc. which can increase the end cost of the website design project for your orthodontic practice.

What interactive features do you require?

Do you have many custom features that might require custom coding? Do you require interactive features like a location finder, an interactive appointment-requesting feature, and bi-lingual pages? Do you need your appointment request form to automatically interact with your appointment scheduling software?

Would you also need a Logo design or redesign?

If you are a new practitioner, you will most probably need a logo design as well. This needs to be done together with your orthodontic website design, as the two will have to agree on the styles and color schemes.

Server and hosting

You also need to host your site somewhere. Would you like us to host your website and take care of the domain renewal and other technicality and server stuff for you? Although hosting fees are minimal, they are recurring fees that should be paid either monthly or yearly. All our website design plans come with a minimum of one year of free hosting.

Maintenance

You most probably need to make changes to your site and also to keep the new site working smoothly. This will be covered in a website edit and maintenance plan. Like hosting, this fee won’t be a high cost for your practice; depending on your contract, website maintenance for orthodontic practices can cost anywhere around $50 to $150 per month, which might or might not include the hosting and domain fees. All our orthodontic website design projects include a 5-year free maintenance plan and a discounted website edit plan.

Initial SEO optimization

Some web design companies also charge for performing on-page optimizations for the site they build for you. At Nexunom, we do provide on-page optimizations for all the new design or redesign projects we carry out included in all our orthodontic web design plans and prices.

This initial SEO optimization is actually one of the most important things that you should seek in a web design, I will explain why:

  • If you are a new practice and you don’t already have a website, the initial SEO optimization can give you a head start and also set the foundation for a successful future SEO campaign.
  • If you are an existing practice and already have a website, that site is most probably already ranking on Google for your main dental keywords. In this scenario, the web design project should be followed by an in-depth initial optimization to ensure the new site won’t damage the existing site’s rankings on Google.

Website redesign process

It all starts with a discovery call, in which we get on a phone call with the orthodontic client and note their needs and requirements. We show them a few examples of our work and also ask them to provide us with a few examples of sites that they like themselves to see what their tastes are. We will then send them a proposal.

After reviewing the proposal and reaching an agreement, we will ask you to fill out our Web Design Creative Brief form and our Dental Practice Registration form. These two forms help us gather all the information that we need about your vision for the new site and your practice.

Then comes the contracting phase. We send you a contract that describes the terms of the project and the related costs, plus the payment terms and options. We will also send you a secure link to add your payment information to the file.

Then, the fun part will start: for us to get started on the work and do our magic, and for you to see the work as we build it, comment on it, or give us feedback as we build the future website of your orthodontic practice.

When everything is done, and we are ready to launch, the site will go through a technical quality check, where we test to make sure that every part of the site is working smoothly and all the SEO optimizations, redirects, etc., are set and working correctly.

Finally, the big day arrives: We launch the site, and you will be able to show it off to the world.

If you have an existing orthodontic office and want to give your site a fresh look, or if you are a new orthodontist and want to create a new website entirely from the ground up, feel out our proposal request form, and we will get back to you to set up a discovery call with you to talk about your web design project and let you know how we can help with that.
